Accounting policies |
Basis of preparation |
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by the revaluation of certain tangible fixed assets and the non depreciation of investment properties, and in accordance with FRS 102, The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The disclosure requirements of section 1A of FRS 102 have been applied other than where additional disclosure is required to show a true and fair view. |
Turnover |
Turnover is the total amount, excluding value added tax, receivable by the company from it's investment properties |
Tangible fixed assets |
Investment property, which is property held to earn rentals and/or for capital appreciation, is initially recognised at cost, which includes the purchase cost and any directly attributable expenditure. Subsequently it is measured at fair value at the reporting end date. Any surplus or deficit on revaluation is recognised in the profit and loss account. |
Investments |
Fixed asset investments are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs, and are subsequently measured at cost less accumulated impairment losses. The directors consider that the specialised nature of the company's investments means it is not practical to measure the investments at fair value. The cost of obtaining independent valuations would be disproportionate to any benefit to the company. |
Debtors |
Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and are subsequently measured at amortised cost, save for balances repayable within one year, which are not amortised. |
Creditors |
Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost, save for balances repayable within one year, which are not amortised. |
Taxation |
A current tax liability is recognised for the tax payable on the taxable profit of the current and past periods. |

The freehold investment properties were acquired during 2012 and 2013, and have been valued by Mr R M Barnes (director) at 31st December 2017. In the opinion of the directors the open market value at 31 December 2017 does not differ materially from cost. |
