1. Accounting policies

Basis of measurement and preparation of accounts

The unaudited financial statements of La Playa Limited have been prepared in compliance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies’ regime within Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006. The Small Companies and Groups (Accounts and Directors’ Report) Regulations 2008 and with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective April 2008). The financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis, under the historical cost convention.

Turnover policy

Turnover represents commission from premiums written and managed service charges.

Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. Cost includes the original purchase price, costs directly attributable to bringing the asset to its working condition for its intended use. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset over its expected useful life, as follows: Furniture and equipment – 33% reducing balance Hardware & software - 33% reducing balance The assets’ residual values and useful lives are reviewed, and adjusted, if appropriate, at the end of each reporting period. The effect of any change is accounted for prospectively.

Intangible fixed assets amortisation policy

Investments are held at cost and are not amortised.
