1Accounting Policies

Basis of measurement and preparation of accounts
The principal accounting policies applied in preparation of the financial statements are set out below:

Adoption of new and revised standards
The following standards, interpretations and amendments have been issued by the IASB for future reporting periods and were not adopted by the European Union during the period to 31 March 2016. Their adoption is not expected to have material effect on the financial statements:
• IFRS 9 Financial Instruments (effective 1 January 2018)
• IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers (effective 01 January 2017)

Basis of preparation
The Financial statements and related notes have been prepared under the historical cost convention in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards as adopted by the European Union and its interpretations promulgated by the International Accounting Standards Board. It has been prepared for the purpose of compliance with sections 92(1)(b) and (c) of the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements are presented for the period ended 31 March 2016.

Accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the current and prior period.

2. Controlling party
BCH Health Services is exempt from the obligation to prepare and deliver Group accounts Under Section 400 of the Companies Act 2006 for the following reason:
i) BCH Health Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Trust) and Group their audited Group accounts have been laid before parliament for public viewing. The Trust’s principal place of business is Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham, B4 6NH.
In the opinion of the directors, the company’s ultimate parent entity and ultimate controlling party is the UK Government

Debtors include the following amounts due after more than one year 1 1

The company holds one unpaid ordinary share in Birmingham Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Limited at a nominal value of £1. This represents 100% of ordinary shares issued. £1 ‘Other assets’ is investment in subsidiary. Other £1 other asset is amounts owed by parent for unpaid issued share capital for Health Services Limited.
£1 non-current liabilities are the amounts owed by the subsidiary for unpaid issued share capital for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Limited.

The subsidiary company is an incorporated company registered with Companies House (England & Wales).

The principal activity of the subsidiary company is to provide outpatient pharmacy services to Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust).

The subsidiary company declared a profit before tax of £125,638 for the year ended 31 March 2016.
