Company activities and impact

The activities of the Powerbase community CIC can be presented as follows:EdTech through the deployment of the Naka Tech Academy initiative which is an endeavour to train young people from under-represented backgrounds in the areas of cyber security, digital marketing, software engineering and money on the block chain. Where possible, students were provided with laptops and phones to support their development. A number of leadership training and capacity building activities were conducted through the year including through the launch of the Young Genius programme, where students were taught in areas around financial literacy, leadership, business, politics and so on. Students were taken on a year long programme in addition to school. We saw improvements in grades as one of the students who formerly was unable to qualify for college was able to gain admission to Kingston College to study in IT. Students were able to give back to the community including a suicide awareness programme conducted by a 14 year old in south London who’s friend committed suicide during the year with the Powerbase and so was able to raise awareness to help other young ladies with cyberbullying and depression. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds were taken on trips and tours to expose them to opportunities that they would otherwise not be able to achieve
