The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, modified to include the revaluation of certain fixed assets, and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective April 2008).
Turnover
The turnover shown in the profit and loss account represents rental income receivable for the year.
Investment properties
In accordance with Statement of Standard Accounting Practice 19 "Accounting for Investment Properties", no depreciation or amortisation is provided in respect of freehold or long leasehold properties. This may be a departure from the requirements of the Companies Act 2006, which requires all properties to be depreciated. In the opinion of the directors this departure is necessary for the financial statements to give a true and fair view in accordance with the applicable accounting standards, as the properties are included in the financial statements at their open market value. The effect of depreciation and amortisation on the values is already reflected annually in the valuation of the properties and the amount attributed to this factor by the valuers cannot reasonably be separately identified nor quantified. Had the provisions of the Act been followed, net assets would not have been affected but the revenue profits would have been reduced for this and earlier years. Investment properties are valued annually by the directors of the company on an open market value basis for existing use.Fixed Assets
All fixed assets are initially recorded at cost.
