COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT
AMBA CARE SOLUTIONS COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY
Company Number: 09646618 (England and Wales)
Year Ending: 30 June 2023
The Company’s aim is to facilitate the development and implementation of Health, Wellbeing and Housing solutions to address health inequalities in order to improve the overall health and wellbeing status of individuals and communities. AmbaCare Solutions implements this through an asset-based approach, putting health and wellbeing firmly in the hands of individuals and communities; facilitating individuals and communities to develop and sustain independence, health and wellbeing, particularly those with long term conditions, multiple health problems and those living with dementia and diabetes; encouraging an interest in social responsibility, reducing isolation and increasing the independence of vulnerable people and their informal carers; having 'conversations' with people and organisations which focus on their strengths and the opportunities available to them. We continue to focus on formulating plans to make a positive impact on improving the understanding and uptake of available services to people living with dementia from minority and marginalised communities, but not exclusively. We work across the West Midlands with some reach nationally. The following Projects were delivered during the accounting period ending June 2023. Through a Grant from the National Lottery 'Living Well with Dementia' we provided culturally sensitive dementia services including Dementia Buddies (to 80 individuals) and Social Groups (average of 25 each week) which are dementia friendly but everyone is welcome. The Grant also enabled us to maintain a website www.dementiadiversity.org.uk which provides information, support and advice for people living with dementia and their carers.A Small Grant from Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust enabled us to deliver a weekly ‘Here 4 Each Other’ Mental Health Support Group in Foleshill Coventry for 3 months. The group was attended regularly by 20 people aged between 40 and 85 years from varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds including Irish Traveller, South Asian, Afro Caribbean, African and White British. A variety of activities were provided in addition to a light lunch. The response to the sessions was 100% positive with the majority citing improved mental wellbeing and reduction in loneliness and isolation. Carers Trust funded a 3 month pilot for a Day Centre in Coleshill for people living with dementia. This provided Day Care services for 8 service users living with dementia, while their Carers had 5 hours respite to do whatever they wanted to with the knowledge that the person they cared for was in safe hands. Meaningful activities were provided which catered for different preferences. In addition pampering sessions were provided for the ladies including hand massage, manicure and nail painting. A two course cooked meal was provided by the Chef in the Care Home where we hired the room. Everyone was very sad when the Pilot ended. We supported Rugby Dementia Group in delivering weekly activity groups for people living with dementia and their carers, which they run in Rugby, by providing a Dementia Support Worker (Associate). An average of 25 people were supported weekly.
The Company’s Stakeholders are vulnerable individuals who are predisposed to, or are already living with existing, long term conditions which impact on their health and wellbeing who are also at risk of social isolation. Our Associate Workers, volunteers and Professionals working with these individuals are also stakeholders. All our projects are evaluated using quantitative and qualitative data. For the qualitative date we use stakeholder feedback through questionnaires, stories, listening sessions, interviews, supervision, cards and letters of thanks to make sure that we deliver the services that people want and need. We are constantly amending our services in line with feedback. We encourage and facilitate open and honest feedback.
