Principal activities of the company

The operation of a shop on the campus of Charterhouse School and the sub-letting of School premises for functions and courses, mainly during the school holidays

Political and charitable donations

The profit for the year, after taxation, amounted to £514,188. This amount has been paid under gift aid to Charterhouse School, to be used for funding bursaries.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover, which is stated net of value added tax, represents amounts invoiced to third parties, sports centre income which comprises membership subscriptions, guest fees and hire of facilities in the year which is recognised in line with the use of the facilities and the retail shop.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets at rates calculated to write off the cost of each asset evenly over its expected useful life. No depreciation is charged in the year of sale. The carrying values of tangible fixed assets are reviewed for impairment if events or changes in circumstances indicate the carrying value may not be recoverable.

    Other accounting policies

    StocksStocks are stated at the lower of cost and estimated selling price.
