Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Incomes |
Income comprises the value of the goods and services supplied by the company. Value Added Tax is not applicable. Subscription income relating to a future accounting period is deferred and carried forward in creditors as 'Subscriptions paid in advance'. |
Intangible assets |
Intangible assets will be amortised over an estimated useful life of three years from the date it is brought in to use. |
Stocks |
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items. |
Foreign currencies |
Assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating result. |
Debtors |
Short term debtors are measured at transaction price, less any impairment. |
Creditors |
Short term creditors are measured at transaction price. Other financial liabilities are measured initially at fair value, net of transaction costs, and are measured subsequently at amortised cost. |

Every member of the Association undertakes to continue such amount as may be required (not exceeding £1) to the assets of the Association if it should be wound up while he is a member or within one year after he ceased to be a member, for payment of the Associations debts and liabilities contracted before he ceased to be a member, and of the cost, charges and expenses of winding up, and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves. |
