Company activities and impact

The GoodWork Group CIC (or “GoodWork”) runs an employability programme and provides access to opportunities for young adults, aged 18-25. GoodWork specifically supports those from low-income backgrounds who have struggled to access work due to a lack of connections, few or lower qualifications and systemic discrimination. In January 2023, GoodWork launched its first programme with eight young people, offering access to work, coaching, training and mental health support, tailored to their needs. The programme is ongoing, however, young people report increased confidence, improved soft skills, and better awareness of their options for the future, as well as some having secured paid work in roles they otherwise would not have accessed.

Consultation with stakeholders

GoodWork’s stakeholders are young adults, aged 18-25, based in London and the surrounding areas. In our first cohort, 89% of applicants were from ethnic minority groups, 20% had a disability or long-term health conditions, 57% were eligible for Free School Meals, and 73% went to schools in areas of high deprivation. We are committed to ensuring that the young people we work with are engaged in the development of our programmes. As well as frequently gathering feedback on our programme, in April we had an external consultant facilitate a session with our young people to gather their feedback on our work overall and their suggestions for how GoodWork can reach and support more young people like them.
