Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 August 2022 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

The directors have chosen not to file a copy of the company's profit and loss account.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows: Fixtures, fittings, tools and equipment - over 5yrs

Company activities and impact

We have developed from a 6bed room supported accommodation to a 51-bedroom supported accommodation. Naskam CIC provides support to vulnerable adults within our community to enable them to reintegrate back into society. We work more closely with Ex-Offenders and vulnerable adults with Sub-Stance Misuse issues. NASKAM will no longer be limited to providing housing for Ex-Offender but also for Vulnerable Adults experiencing Mental Health Disorder under section117 of the Mental Health Act providing aftercare service intended to meet the needs that arises from or relates to mental health problems and also, section 18 for housing provisions. NASKAM will be providing these Mental Health Support need in the community and our first provision will be in Long Eaton, Tamworth Road NG10.Naskam has continues to develop in providing safer housing and environment for our Service Users. We have expanded into Mansfield taking the total number of bed space to 63 as a result of taking on the tenancy of the Midland Hotel. Once all compliance requirements are met, the property will be fully operation. We are ambitious in our goals to continue in providing a high standard of accommodations for our Service Users enabling effective intervention for rehabilitation and reintegration through reduction of risk of recidivist’s behaviours. Our external working partnership with key stakeholders continues to grow from strength to strength and, we continue in envisaging better working relationships with all of our partners.Naskam has also established a partnership with The Nottingham Trent University through the ESF support for Black-Led Business the High Level Skills (HLS) programme supports local and diverse businesses to develop the skills and talent needed for healthy growth. We liaise with the DLNR Probation Services to provide support package that meet the individual need with our community. Our support ranges from Accommodation and Independent Living Skills, Education Training and Employment, Debt, Finance and Budgeting Skills, Physical and Mental Health, Offending Behaviour and Substance Misuse to Community and Social Relationship. We also offer mentoring within the community to encourage and support our Service Users to build their self-confidence, esteem and self-worth by engaging with services and activities in the community.The work we do benefit the community greatly as it helps to reduce the risks of recidivist activities and the local police and community, we serve are supportive in our effort to building a better and more prosperous community.We continue to support our clients and our community to ensure that our community and Service Users benefitted from the service we provide to them on a day-to-day basis.We continue to work hard for our local communities through the “Building Better Communities initiative”. We believe in our collective efforts to enable the vulnerable within our respective communities to live a life of dignity and prosperity.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are:Our Service users, Ex-offenders, Vulnerable adults with Substances Misuse issues. The DLNR Probation services, National Offenders Management Service, Nottingham City Council, Our Volunteers, Community Centres where we sometimes meet to discuss social exclusion barriers that Ex-Offenders face with in their local community and wider communities.Our Service Users and Volunteers are consulted on a daily and weekly basis by means of a weekly Support Meetings with our Service Users which records progress been made in relation meeting set goals and feedbacks on progress been made and our Volunteers by means of daily meetings and weekly evaluation of meeting goals and targets sets out earlier in the week.We also do end-of-year evaluation by means of a short questionnaire with our Service User, their family members to assess areas for improvements. Mentors, Offender Managers from the DLNR Probation Services, NOMS of the Ministry of Justice, Support Workers and heads of departments were also consulted regularly.Our work within our respective communities continues to make positive contribution in building better communities, communities’ social cohesion, promoting safer environments. Our work in our community also involved supporting local sport team such Hyson Green Cavaliers Youth Football Team in Hyson Green, Nottingham, Wez Burke PMG amongst others.Communities are the backbone of social development and each and every contribution makes it a little easier to enable individuals to grow, be a productive member in their respective communities and together building better and prosperous communities.NASKAM CIC is proud to be able to affect change to our immediate and wider communities.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £51,000.All other transactions or arrangements have been disclosed as per the accounts.
