Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. |
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. |
Hire purchase and leasing commitments |
Assets obtained under hire purchase contracts or finance leases are capitalised in the balance sheet. Those held under hire purchase contracts are depreciated over their estimated useful lives. Those held under finance leases are depreciated over their estimated useful lives or the lease term, whichever is the shorter. |
The interest element of these obligations is charged to profit or loss over the relevant period. The capital element of the future payments is treated as a liability. |
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease. |
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits |
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate. |

9. | RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES |
During the year the company traded with Assembly Theatre Ltd (the companies share a joint director William Burdett-Coutts) on an arms length basis. In the year Assembly Theatre Ltd invoiced Assembly Festival Limited for services of £58,866 (2019 - £76,618) , with Assembly Festival Limited invoicing Assembly Theatre Ltd for services totalling £5,045 (2019 - £2,958). |
The amount due from the company to Assembly Theatre Ltd at the year end was £5,242, and due to the company from Assembly Theatre Ltd was £967. |
During the year the company traded with Red Sixty One Ltd (the companies share a joint director William Burdett-Coutts) on an arms length basis. In the year Red Sixty Once Ltd invoiced Assembly Festival Limited for services of £20,000 (2019 - £1,180). |
During the year the company received interest of £14,332 (2019 - £15,795) on a loan of £400,000 to Forestrox Ltd, a company which share the same Directors. The balance owed to Assembly Festival Ltd at the year end was £444,142. |
Mr Burdett-Coutts invoices through a company, Burdett-Coutts Limited for his time operating as the Artistic-director of the company productions, along with invoicing for expenses incurred on the company behalf. In the period Mr Burdett-Coutts invoiced the company a total of £60,576 (2019 - £44,661) for services provided during the year.The company also purchased Fixed Assets to the amount of £1,050 from Burdett Coutts Ltd. |
