REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES |
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021 |
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2021. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019). |
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
Objectives and aims |
The Daimler Foundation was created to support individuals from all walks of life to participate in horse-riding. We wish to make horse-riding accessible to any individual, as we are aware horse-riding can be a daunting sport for people to become involved in. |
The Daimler Foundation has been proudly opened to support riding for the disabled and to encourage more people to understand the benefits horse-riding and caring for a horse can have on their health and wellbeing. |
We would also like to use our horses to raise the education, life skills, well-being and aspirations of young people growing up in some if the most disadvantaged communities in Glasgow/Ayrshire and to remove the barriers to a sport that can enrich the lives of everyone who participates at whatever level. |
Changing Lives through Horses aims to improve the lives of disengaged young people, regardless of their background, and give them the opportunity to develop skills that enable them to return to education and/or employment. |
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE |
Charitable activities |
The Covid-19 pandemic developed rapidly throughout the year under review and was extremely challenging for The Daimler Foundation. Our focus remains on our core objectives and aims and we are confident we will be able to meet our goals in the future. |
Our riding school is now up and running and we have ponies/horses suitable of all ages and abilities. |
FINANCIAL REVIEW |
Financial position |
From a financial standpoint, the Covid-19 pandemic has been a significant challenge but with support from the Government and other third parties we have been able to continue. |
A significant effort has been made to generate income and seek funding and we expect this to bear fruit in the forthcoming financial year. |
Reserves policy |
The Daimler Foundation aims to maintain sufficient funds in our bank account to meet both planned and unplanned expenditures, but to also demonstrate to potential funders that we also have the ability to raise funds through our ongoing fundraising and equestrian events activities and by developing positive and long - term relationships with individuals, user groups and other interested parties. |
Going concern |
The trustees are of the view that The Daimler Foundation can generate sufficient funding to continue to operate as a going concern. As noted above, a significant amount of time and effort has gone into seeking funding and with Covid-19 restrictions easing, we are confident for the future. |
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT |
Governing document |
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. |

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF |
THE DAIMLER FOUNDATION LTD |
I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2021 set out on pages four to eleven. |
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner |
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(a) to (c) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. |
Basis of the independent examiner's report |
My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. |
Independent examiner's statement |
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention : |
(1) | which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements |
- | to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations; and |
- | to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations |
have not been met; or |
(2) | to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. |
