    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover comprises the invoiced value of goods and services supplied by the company, net of Value Added Tax and trade discounts.

    Other accounting policies

    Government grantsGovernment grants received are credited to deferred income. Grants towards capital expenditure are released to the income statement over the expected useful life of the assets. Grants received towards revenue expenditure are released to the income statement as the related expenditure is incurred.

Company activities and impact

The principal activities as per the registration of the CIIC in 2019 stated these were to provide communal facilities & establish marketing opportunities.The CC has completed the necessary Habitat Regulation Assessment, Biosecurity Measures Plan and been certified by DEFRA, Natural England, CEFAS, MMO ,as an Authorised Production Business and in August 2020 secured the lease on the aquaculture site atSouthwood, Trelissick, River Fal. This provides a storage facilty for live shellfish. It is available to CIC members, Fal Fishery licence holders and commercial partners.The CIC successfully became the main contact for the Fal Oyster Protected Food Name, PFN, specification, protecting the unique product from imitation and provides unique marketing opportunities https://www.gov.uk/protected-food-drink-names/fal-oyster.In addition, the CIC now also conducts scientific research to reverse the decline of the native oyster species Ostrea edulis, including a Crowdfunder supported micro hatchery under the working name www.SavingESTER.co.uk ESTER is Cornish for OYSTER.There is a new website too, www.FalFisheryCOoperativeCIC.org that will evolve to become a resource for students, researchers, marine biology experts & citizen science volunteers.Given the global pandemic reduced number of physical field trips and work placements we have also developed the Fal Fishery Cooperative CIC Youtube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPMiG8o9715tWOGlz72GjZQ where we share our recordings of the research, repopulation and restoration work we are doing.In 2021 we aim to establish a Working Group Sub Committee and encourage new Non-Executive Directors to join the Board of Directors.
