The following reproduces the text of the report prepared for the directors in respect of the company's annual unaudited financial statements. In accordance with the Companies Act 2006, the company is only required to file a Balance Sheet. Readers are cautioned that the Income Statement and certain other primary statements and the Directors' Report are not required to be filed with the Registrar of Companies. |
In order to assist you to fulfil your duties under the Companies Act 2006, we have prepared for your approval the financial statements of Cornerstones Education Limited for the year ended 31 July 2021 which comprise the Income Statement, Other Comprehensive Income, Balance Sheet, Statement of Changes in Equity and the related notes from the company's accounting records and from information and explanations you have given us. |

2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Going concern |
The Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented situation with potential to reduce business activity. In the |
intervening period, while activity is disrupted, substantial and substantive government and central bank measures were put in place in the UK and internationally to support businesses and households. The measures, which have been evolving rapidly and could evolve further, are expected to remain in place throughout any periods of disruption. |
The company has reported a loss for the year and now has a deficit in shareholders funds of £387,891. |
The directors have considered the above and their plans going forward, the company is expected to return to profit and therefore the directors believe it appropriate to prepare the accounts on a going concern basis. |
The directors withdrew dividends during the current accounting period when there were insufficient reserves resulting in illegal dividends. The directors acknowledge that illegal dividends have arisen and have made plans to make good this situation. Post year end the directors stopped taking dividends and no further dividend distribution will be made until sufficient reserves are available. |

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. |

Financial instruments |
Financial assets and financial liabilities are recognised when the company becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. Financial liabilities and equity instruments are classified according to the substance of the contractual arrangements entered into. An equity instrument is any contract that evidences a residual interest in the asset of the company after deducting all of its liabilities. |
Taxation |
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. |
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. |
Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. |
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. |
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits |
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate. |
