Company activities and impact

Bassetlaw Christian Heritage (BCH) usually receives funds entirely from grants and donations from organisations and individuals. These are for specific projects e.g. Thoroton Research, Pilgrims Festival, and the Freedom & Tolerance Forum, and the costs of running the organisation such as insurance, website and email hosting, companies house expenses and minor sundries. Very limited income generation was possible during this period Unfortunately the environmental situation created by the Covid 19 pandemic stopped the activities of the company completely. Directors and volunteers would usually give talks to a range of groups (history societies, parish councils, rotary clubs, business groups etc) on various topics related to Christian Heritage within the BCH interest area. These also provide good opportunities for engagement and feedback, however were not able to be carried during this period.

Consultation with stakeholders

BCH was unable to hold open network meetings where members of the public and stakeholders are invited to attend, contribute to the planning process and hear about progress. The BCH Steering Group includes the directors and volunteer members who meet regularly throughout the year to plan activities and discuss feedback. This group was able to continue to keep in touch and discuss plans using Zoom, with varying levels of success. The Thanksgiving/Pilgrims activities are discussed at meetings of the Retford Business Forum which were held online during this period. In the area of the Mayflower Pilgrims, BCH is a partner of Bassetlaw District Council and West Lindsey District Council and works in collaboration with Nottinghamshire County Council. Members of BCH were in contact with these partners to discuss progress during this time.
