COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT
BRILLIANT PLAY SOLUTIONS CIC
Company Number: 08971574 (England and Wales)
Year Ending: 31 March 2020
Forest School-we continue to offer this service and extended our offer by 2 sessions a week (5 in total) Free spaces are offered and a number of families facing disadvantage benefited from this over the financial year. Children were able to benefit from connection with nature and other children in an environment supported by the Forest School Leader and the team. We have also delivered training to teaching staff on outdoor learning as well as curriculum sessions for nursery aged children. We increased our qualified Forest School Leader team by 1 providing support for the training element. Mini Explorers Club-these sessions have continued to run during term times with pre school children develop connections with nature, physical and emotional literacy as well as skills of independence and resilience. We have partnered with a local nursery to make this offer and in response to feedback have changed times and drop off /pick up locations according to children's and parental needs. Pipsqueaks in the Park continues to operate in Marble Hill Park. This drop in nature play group affords families the opportunity to meet other local families promoting community cohesion as well as connection to nature. This impacts on the physical and mental wellbeing of both the children and grown ups that attend. We continue to visit the volunteers at a local allotment and visit there weekly with our group to tend to our own vegetable patch and learn more about the social history of the local growing offer. St Margaret’s Playgroup is our indoor playgroup and sees attendances of between 30 and 50 families every session and we have added a second session to cater for growing numbers. 20 Free spaces have been allocated for families facing disadvantage and referred by local children’s centres and community nurse provision. This group decreases isolation for families and offers the opportunity to build informal support networks as well as a stimulating rich play experience for their child. Dads Go Wild - commissioned again by the Community Learning fund for male carers and their children to meet other families in a natural environment and spend quality time with their children taking part in Forest School activities.’ The pop up Play Beach was commissioned once again providing access for the community to a space usually inaccessible. A small charge was introduced for this by the commissioners but this did not have a detrimental impact on numbers or accessibility. Partnerships with Kew Gardens and Marble Hill Playcentres delivering nature based play sessions and play management services respectively continue have enabled a broader range of families to access high quality play based services. We have also entered a partnership with MHP and English Heritage to deliver their Heritage Lottery and Community Funded 'Marble Hill Revived.' The project involves delivering inclusive Family Heritage Sessions to connect families with the history of the park and landscape. Brilliant Play will also engage 2 apprentices to help deliver the project. We have taken on another director to assist with delivery and oversight.
Our stakeholders include children and their parents and carers, children’s services, local schools, voluntary sector organisations, heritage organisations, community centres and local residents. We use survey monkey, online feedback forms and staff observation to evaluate our services and have used this information to look at how we deliver our services. In response to these we have made a few changes to session times, content of sessions according to the growing and developing needs of the children and families attending. We have reviewed equipment and procedural operations to ensure that the sessions are delivering the best possible experiences for our recipients focusing on increasing playful elements.
