  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation of accounts

    The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective April 2008). It is appropriate for the accounts to be prepared in a manner which is consistent with the business operating as a going concern.

    Turnover policy

    Turnover represents amounts receivable for meals and services net of VAT. Customer promotional vouchers are accounted as turnover on the date that the vouchers are redeemed.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Depreciation is charged so as to write off the cost of tangible assets, less residual value, over the useful economic life of that asset as follows: leasehold improvements over 5 years; kitchen equipment over 5 years; restaurant furniture over 5 years.

    Other accounting policies

    Deferred taxation is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have not been reversed at the balance sheet date. However, no deferred taxation is provided on asset revaluations where it is likely that any taxable gain on disposal will be rolled over into replacement assets.
