  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts. Turnover includes revenue earned from the rendering of services. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer rebates and other similar allowances.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Prior year unapplied accumulated depreciation has also been included in the calculation. Company activities and impact

African Activities CIC has provided free online resources to nearly 5,000 teachers and has had contact with 100s of schools with face to face music workshops. African Activities has worked with two new artists this year, enabling them to support, train and encourage more African Artists within the UK.African Activities continued to work with The Art House they expanded their networks and as well as more work with Art Asia and the Mela they also supported The Ghanaian Society of Southampton and the TUVA united Africa in Southampton association.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have continued to work with teachers across the UK – supported with regular surveys to ensure we are meeting the needs of the schools we work with. Our online resources were expanded and improved as a result and we developed CPD training in call and response song delivered for Southampton Music services and as key note address for the Music and Drama expo.We continue to work with and for the Black communities of Southampton, including developing the African on the square, a new initiative bringing the African Arts to Southampton city centre.
