Love Alive (Registered number: 05216578)

Report of the Trustees
for the Year Ended 31 August 2019

The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with
the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2019. The trustees have adopted the provisions of
Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)
(effective 1 January 2015).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The aims of the charity are to relieve financial hardship for disadvantaged children and their families and to advance
education on the five human values of Love, Truth, Peace, Right Conduct and Non-Violence, having particular but not
exclusive regard to the education of children.

Significant activities
The charity's activities include giving courses for children in the UK and supporting an orphanage in India. The
emphasis is on teaching the five human values to adults (parents and carers) and children alike.

Grantmaking
Mrs Bahnoon Karim Agnew, and others have advanced funds to the charity to enable it to continue supporting the
orphanage, styled as 'Love Alive India Orphanage' situated in Kappalabandar Village, near Puttarparthi, Andrah
Pradesh, India. this exciting project opened on the 26th July 2007, and has admitted children between five and a half and
ten and a half years. The school is registered with the local authorities as a local charity.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
Our establishment continues with its unflagging commitment to the 5 human values of Love, Truth, Right Conduct,
Peace and Non Violence. It is not always easy when children have a lot of anger , resentment and feelings often times of
rejection and abandonment from their very early years. With perseverance we continue however to see change all the
time in their understanding and behaviour through the following diverse factors:

Prayer and Meditation

Yoga as a way of life

Strong yet realistic Discipline

Fun with Dance and Drama

Devotional Singing

Environmental Awareness, both theory and experimental work

Swimming (in current 45 degree temperatures)

Fun with basketball, cricket, volleyball, tennis and the occasional golf practice and putting

Over and above their normal school curriculum

With Love and all the above we are committed to providing a level of excellence which is enhanced each year.

A child at Love Alive will typically have his or her mind and heart stretched, expanded to a higher level of
consciousness than he/she has been used to. In all of this, the atmosphere and style is intimate, always caring and
considerate, full of unconditional love. The child feels valued and able to his divine and creative self. He/she is a happy
smiling child.

We have aspirations arising from wonderful possibilities for our children (and as many more poor children whose family
members continually beg us to take them in) but to achieve these require a special level of funding. We are also always
in need of financial support as the cost of living has skyrocketed over the last 5 years and even basics are expensive.

We are currently an average of some 60 children, 29 girls and 31 boys. But by about June 2019 our numbers were
reduced to 46 . This was due to the further success/passing of some 7 persons in their 10th Year Examination. These
children then moved on to higher education. Then some unfortunate family illnesses , accidents and disabilities had also
caused 2 of our children to return home to look after sick mothers and fathers. Furthermore , the Indian Prime Ministers
new and excellent programmes of building fresh English medium schools in outlying villages have also caused an
exodus of some of our children back to their families and villages. The Prime Minister further supports these families by
providing free breakfast and lunch at school and some 15000 rupees in their bank accounts per child/per home. These
superb government incentives which have resulted in the exodus have indeed been very attractive to these low income
,low caste families and have caused much relief and happiness to the village people. I believe the exodus in our home
and school will continue into the end of the year 2019.
Its important to report as well that 3 of our girls who were studying further to qualify for higher learning have
succumbed to parents insistence to marry. They are now married , one with a baby soon on the way

During the year ended 31st August 2018 7 children sat and passed the GCSE equivalent, 2 girls and 5 boys.
Currently 5 children are doing their Plus 1 and Plus 2 so that they can gain entrance to University, all 5 are boys.
Out of those who have completed the 2 year sixth form equivalent:-
2 girls have gone into nursing
1 is endeavouring to be a doctor
3 are doing electrical engineering, 2 with the intention of becoming a pilot.
1 doing an agricultural degree.
1 doing Chartered Accountancy
1 is re-sitting.

Love Alive (Registered number: 05216578)

Report of the Trustees
for the Year Ended 31 August 2019

1 is doing a Computer Software degree.
1 is enjoying a Visual Arts and Textile degree.
1 is doing a degree in Commerce.
2 have joined courses to be cricketers.
1 took 5 months out to nurse a very sick father. No one else was available. And because of his excellent result
(9.2grade) he will probably be admitted this year to a very prestigious college.
1 doing an Engineering degree.

We look forward to making contact with more supporters and donors for this and the years ahead.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
The only substantial liability of Love Alive is a loan made to the charity by one of its trustees, Mrs Bahnoon Agnew.
Mrs Agnew has confirmed that under no circumstances would she require repayment of this loan unless the Charity were
in a position to do so.

Reserves policy
The charitable company is constantly aware of the need to provide for future activities and running costs.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined
by the Companies Act 2006.

The trustees are the only members and of the charitable company and represent the minimum number of persons
required by the articles to form a Council of Management. In the event of winding up each member is required to pay
into the company a sum not exceeding £1. The company's memorandum allows the purchase of indemnity insurance for
the council of management.

Induction and training of new trustees
New Trustees are recruited and appointed by the existing Trustees.

Risk management
The trustees are aware of their joint and several duties to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed
and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of
Love Alive

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Love Alive ('the Company')
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 August 2019.

Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for
the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act
and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried
out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act'). In carrying out my examination I have followed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the
examination giving me cause to believe:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any
requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent
examination; or
4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of
Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts
in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should
be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)',
Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost
convention.

Income
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it
is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the
charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and
the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has
been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly
attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of
resources.

Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment but
not accrued as expenditure.

Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions
arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
