Company activities and impact

Exploring Senses (ES) works in partnership with Charities, Non-profit organisations, community groups, local government, schools businesses and art organisations providing activities, events, mentoring talks and consultation. - ES are in their 5th year of delivering a Makerlab project funded by the People's Health Trust and Sussex Community Foundation, for local young people and families activities who live in areas of high deprivation. These sessions allow young people form disadvantaged backgrounds to have a safe environment to learn and experience art, design and technology. Helping young people and their familes become active citizens, take responsibility for their own projects, encouraging young people to pursue a successful career pathway. Feedback from the project has been great with 100% of participants stating they now feel more confident and less socially isolated.-ES have continued with their community space on Brighton seafront supported by Brighton and Hove Council and Rampion Wind farm, running free workshops for local schools. We also exhibit local artworks for free and provide a meeting space for local community groups, provide mentoring to young adults and vital work experience to help provide career pathways and advice. -We have provided regular workshops for MasCot a local peer to peer Autism Support network in Brighton and Hove, providing experiences and technology not readily available, the group are always so excited for our sessions.-Our Mini Maker lab at BACA school has continued to provide students with access to creative activities, providing free activities at school to experience exciting extra curricular experiences.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company Stakeholders are local communities, charities, art organisations, local government, schools and businesses. ES are currently working in partnership with Emmaus Brighton and Hove, Brighton and Hove City Council, Brighton Youth Centre, Peoples Health Trust, Sussex Community Foundation, BACA and our participants and parents and carers. We consult with our partners regulary for feedback about our services to ensure that we meet their needs and the needs of the communities. This can either be verbally at the end of our sessions or through feedback forms. We have found that the feedback recieved is extremely useful in implementing across all activities we provide for example being flexible with the duration of sessions, as not all young people are able to go home after the session has finished. Encouraging different communities to come to different sessions, to meet new friends within the wider community.
